How running costs are worked out
Energy used (kWh) = power (watts) × hours of use ÷ 1,000. A 2 kW heater on for 3 hours uses 6 kWh, which costs about £1.58 at the price cap.
Heating, tumble dryers and immersion heaters usually cost the most to run; LED bulbs and routers cost very little.
